Trip to Sitges 2015

« 1 of 2 »

Sitges was so good last year we followed it up with another visit this year for the annual Celtic Connextions Festival.  And to remember all the great times we had Sean Gray has written a poem which sums up all the fun, frolics and of course music of that great week.  Hope you enjoy it.

SITGES 2015

Music ringing merrily
Through El Cid’s corridors.
Laughter echoing loudly from
Card game to card game
When Craobh Phiarais went to Sitges.

Dancers and musicians
Entertained the crowd,
As hornpipes, jigs and reels abound,
In secret sessions throughout the streets
When Craobh Phiarais went to Sitges.

A brush dance or two cleaned up the act,
While the buskers cleaned up the rest.
Shoes haggled for along the beaches,
The Hunter’s Purse given new meaning
When Craobh Phiarais went to Sitges.

Master classes under the brilliant sky
Or tucked away inside café walls,
Craic and learning combined,
With fiddle, set dance and more besides
When Craobh Phiarais went to Sitges.

Talent and music entwined
Under the evening sun,
As debut Solos of flute and dance
Took to the stage at El Retiro
When Craobh Phiarais went to Sitges.

Braving the icy depths of the pool,
Volleyball and rugby by the sea,
Fish nibbling on many toes,
Super Pollo making a hefty profit
When Craobh Phiarais went to Sitges.

For all those that plotted, planned
And arranged the trip,
Mairead and the Sitges parents
Thank you for all you did so
Craobh Phiarais could go to Sitges!
