Beannachtaí na Féile Pádraig

[slideshow_deploy id=’1503’]

Bhí seachtain thar barr ag an craobh – ag seinm ag an Lexicon i nDún Laoghaire do Féile Leabhar Ó Chuan go Sliabh agus arís ar Lá Fhéile Phádraig i lár an Charraig Dhubh. Lá álainn grianmhar a bhí ann (mar is gnáth??) agus tháinig slua mór amach chun éisteacht agus rince a dhéanamh leis an cheol iontach.

1916 commemoration message from Comhaltas

The following is a letter from the County Board.  If you wish to pass on information contact a member of the committee.

4th February 2016.

1916 Relatives Commemorative Medal presentations.

A Rúnaí,

As we commemorate the Centenary of the 1916 Rising, Comhairle Laighean will host a spectacular concert on May 29th in Tullamore Court Hotel.

In conjunction with the concert we will make presentations to Comhaltas members who had a relative that participated in 1916 rising.

Each Comhaltas branch is asked to research if there is a member  in their branch who had a relative who took part in the  1916  Rising. We are asking  for direct descendants please.

  • The Comhaltas member is asked  to write a short piece giving the name of the relative, what part they had in the Rising, where they fought and with whom, do they have a commemorative medal or other proof of the connection.

On the 29th of May prior to the concert  a commemorative medal and scroll will be presented to those who had a relative who was part of the 1916 Rising.

Collection of this information  will  take time so I am asking you to make it a priority in your county and branch. We do not wish to omit anyone who had a relative who played such an important role in the foundation of our Country.

I look forward to receiving your list of names by March 11th 2016.

If you require clarification please do not hesitate to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

Mary Whelan
